K-9 Unit

The JCPD is proud to feature our dedicated K-9 Unit, which currently includes K-9 Harper, an exceptional female German Shepherd, and her human partner, Officer Kallfelz. Officer Kallfelz has been serving our community since 2020 and brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to his role in law enforcement.

K-9 Harper is trained in tracking individuals and detecting illegal narcotics. Her keen sense of smell makes her an invaluable asset to our community.  One of the highlights of the K-9 Unit is the strong bond they can share with the community. They can be frequently seen at a variety of community events throughout the year discussing responsibilities of the unit, answering questions, and providing K-9 demonstrations.  These appearances provide valuable opportunities for residents, especially children, to learn about the important roles that police dogs play in law enforcement, while fostering positive relationships between the JCPD and the community we serve.

The JCPD is committed to ensuring that our K-9 Unit remains at the forefront of law enforcement. K-9 Harper, alongside Officer Kallfelz, exemplifies this commitment through continuous training, community engagement, and proactive policing strategies. Together, they work tirelessly to maintain public safety and serve as a symbol of our dedication to protecting and supporting the Johnson City community.
