The Johnson City Police Association serves as a fraternal organization dedicated to supporting the men and women of the department. Its primary purpose is to foster unity, provide mutual support, and advocate for the well-being and professional interests of its members. The Association works to assist its members in achieving both individual and collective goals while promoting a culture of integrity, accountability, and professionalism throughout the department.
In addition to supporting its members, the Association plays an important role in strengthening the connection between law enforcement and the community. It actively promotes public awareness and understanding of the responsibilities, challenges, and service provided by police officers, helping to build trust and transparency with the residents we serve.
The Police Association is also committed to giving back to the community. Through donations, partnerships, and volunteer efforts, it supports a variety of local non-profit organizations and community initiatives. These efforts reflect a shared commitment to improving the quality of life in Johnson City and making it a safer, stronger, and more vibrant place to live, work, and visit.
The Johnson City Police Association is made of five (5) elected board members who are nominated and voted on by the membership of the Police Association. Each board member serves a two (2) year term, with no term limits.
The Johnson City Police Association is affiliated with the International Union of Police Associations and the New York State Union of Police Associations. This union affiliation provides union members with advice on collective bargaining, grievance procedures, disciplinary issues and day to day legal advice.
